Get set for summer with Globe-Trotter’s 1970s showstopper.
There's something about the colour red. It's bold, it's daring and just a little bit provocative. Red is the colour of love and passion – yet, at the same time, war and danger. It evokes the glamour of the red carpet, the power of a Ferrari or the flash of a Louboutin heel.
For Globe-Trotter, red is the colour of the moment. Inspired by an unique bespoke piece from the extensive Globe-Trotter archives, the new red colour is available in three sizes and joins the classic brown and navy hues of the existing Original collection. Commenting on the story behind the crimson case, Globe-Trotter designer Charlotte Seddon said:
'When it came to designing the Original Red, we took inspiration from an archive piece dating back to the 1970s – we felt the bright red case deserved to be relaunched and we are delighted to have been able to add the retro colourway to our classic collection.'
Although the colour is inspired by the suave style of the 1970s, the design of the case itself dates back even further. In keeping with the very first Globe-Trotter cases, the Original collection – including its distinctive corners – is made entirely of Vulcanised Fibreboard and finished with polished-chrome locks. What's more, the cases are still made to a unique specification in the company's Hertfordshire factory using the same handcrafted methods and techniques pioneered 125 years ago.
The Original Red made its debut at a summer drinks soirée coinciding with London Fashion Week Men's and held in partnership with BEAST, the self-styled 'new face of male beauty' concept store in London’s Covent Garden.
The Original collection comprises a 30" Suitcase with wheels (£970), 20" Trolley Case (£825) and an 18" Trolley Case (£755) in classic red, brown and navy.
