How would you define craftsmanship? The term denotes a specific set of expertise: refined technique, artful mastery and a unique ingenuity. The true meaning of craftsmanship is something upheld by Globe-Trotter. For more than a century, the British luggage maker has produced a range of handcrafted luxury suitcases and accessories that have redefined what it means to travel in style. In honour of this triumph, Globe-Trotter has launched a new collection to celebrate its masterful prowess.
The Crafted Collection boasts a selection of high-quality leather suitcases in three classic sizes and three elegant colourways. A crossbody Mayfair Case, a Small Attaché and a Carry-On are available in tasteful shades of anthracite black, leaf green with holiday orange corners, and sherry red with burgundy corners. Inspired by the Vanity Carry-On, Globe-Trotter’s collaboration with YSL, the new Crafted Collection is an elevated addition to the brand’s range of premium luggage which trumps even the deluxe editions. To reach this exclusive calibre, each design is mastered with the irresistible material, Muirhead leather.
Hailing from Scotland, Muirhead has been a renowned purveyor of the nation's finest leather for 180 years. From high-fashion brands to luxury air travel, and even gracing the seats in the House of Lords, Muirhead – like Globe-Trotter – is a pioneer in its field when it comes to craftsmanship. The Crafted Collection introduces a partnership that integrates Muirhead’s sumptuous material into Globe-Trotter’s precise manufacturing process. The premium leather coats the hard-shell structure made of Vulcanised Fibreboard – Globe-Trotter’s trusted and timeless innovation. The result is a suave, state-of-the-art suitcase, enduring in style and fit to last a lifetime.
‘The three chosen colours for the Crafted luxury suitcase collection are deeply inspired by the lush, natural beauty surrounding the Muirhead factory in Scotland,’ says Jonathan Lord, head of sales at Muirhead. ‘This thoughtful selection showcases the collection’s dedication to both craftsmanship and nature-inspired luxury.’
‘The Crafted Collection stands out from the rest of our collections as we have focussed entirely on the quality of material and the craftsmanship which goes into creating each case,’ says James Fisher, product development director at Globe-Trotter. ‘All of our products are hand-crafted here in the UK, and for this collection we wanted to work with Muirhead, which produces the very best leather in the country, and in doing so we have created a suitcase that pays homage to craftsmanship.’
It takes 10 days and a 90-step manufacturing process to make a Globe-Trotter suitcase. Each piece of luggage is made with skill and care by experienced artisans who are trained in the tradition of producing durable, hard-shell cases. Sleek, long-wearing and timeless, the Crafted Collection epitomises why Globe-Trotter truly is a master of its field.
‘Every suitcase is a timeless piece, cherished for generations to come,’ Fisher continues. ‘We’ve crafted a collection that reflects the very best of what we believe in: timeless luxury, exceptional quality and a deep respect for tradition.’
The Crafted collection is available from 6 November. A £125, luggage starts from £2,095
