The Perfect Gift: A Personalised Globe-Trotter Case In Special Colours - GLOBE-TROTTER

Personalisation is the ideal way to create a special gift – for others, or for yourself.

Globe-Trotter’s accessible bespoke service offers three levels of customisation through which you can design your dream luggage (and never run into someone else with the same case).

At the Globe-Trotter factory in Hertfordshire, we have a fully bespoke operation that can make pretty much whatever customers want. This is complex design work, starting from a brief, and from scratch. In the past we’ve created a shoe case for Edward Green, the Northampton makers of Great British footwear, a tea set carrier for British potter Steve Harrison, picnic hampers, a wine-glasses carrying case, a ski case, a ukulele trolley case and even a portable cocktail cabinet, as well as a vinyl-playing hi-fi station in a travel chest.

But though we are more than happy to be challenged to create specially designed one-off pieces, and have a rich archive from which we draw inspiration, there is a much simpler way to customise a Globe-Trotter that makes use of the fundamental building-blocks of our cases and allows you to ring the changes in terms of colours and details.

“It is a fact of mathematics that once you introduce a selection of different pieces, the combinations you can create become myriad.”

Each Globe Trotter case is constructed using vulcanised fibreboard for the panels, leather handle and leather corners and leather straps, metal hardware in different finishes, and, of course, that crucial element, a lining, which you reveal when you open up your luggage. It is a simple fact of mathematics that once you introduce a selection of these different pieces, the combinations you can create become myriad. That is how Globe-Trotter bespoke works. You bring your personal preferences, and we create your very own, distinctive, signature model.

“Why not give the opportunity to create a special case as a present in itself, with the recipient acting as designer-in-chief?"

The idea of constructing a unique piece of design is, of course, perfectly suited to the gift-giving holiday season. Either put something together for someone else, or, why not give the opportunity to create a special case as a present in itself, with the recipient acting as designer-in-chief?

“Each of the three customisation options offers the same possibilities, but with an increasing range of colours and finishes to choose from.”

There are currently three options for personalising a suitcase. Each offers the same possibilities, but with an increasing range of colours and finishes to choose from. The three levels of customisation each add a premium to the cost of the case.

Made to Order

Here you can choose from a curated selection of vulcanised fibreboard colours (for the panels of the case), leather colours, metal finishes and lining options to create your own special combination. For Made to Order, customers are restricted to a choice of two colours of board and two colours of leather. There are also limitations on the way these combinations can be used.

Bespoke

Here you can choose any combination of coloured boards, leather, printed linings, fittings and stitch colours from a curated selection to create a special combination.

Bespoke +

The ultimate personalisation service. Here you can choose any combination of coloured boards, leather, fittings and stitch colours from an extended selection of 25 colours and different finishes to create a truly unique combination.

Initialling

“For old and new cases – indeed, adding initials to an old, loved case is a simple way of refreshing it.”

Globe-Trotter has been initialling and monogramming cases for decades, and in recent years there has been a renewed interest in this service. It is the simplest way to mark out a case as your own, or dedicate one to a loved one or family member. So, you have the opportunity to add personalised initialling to your Globe-Trotter luggage (and Globe-Trotter leather products, too). This service is currently carried out at the Hertfordshire factory and can be applied to vintage pieces as well as new cases. Indeed, adding initials to an old, loved case is a simple way of refreshing it.

“A function of the initialling service is that it creates an instant heirloom that can be handed down to the next generation.”

You can personalise a case with up to six letters, choosing from a variety of font styles, sizes and colours. You can also apply special characters that we have on file, including hashtags. One lovely function of the initialling service is that it creates an instant heirloom that can be handed down to the next generation as a reminder of the gift-giver.

The delivery time for these three bespoke services and the initialling service is approximately 8-12 weeks. For more information about customisation or to book an appointment, contact Globe-Trotter on: Email: store@globe-trotter.com Phone: +44 (0) 7540 447 146
