The Steamer Home Trunk in Marmalade and Brown brings a warm, characterful expression of Globe-Trotter heritage into the home. Inspired by the early twentieth-century steamer trunks once used for long voyages by ship and rail, it reimagines the travel trunk as a refined piece of interior storage, made to hold the objects, memories and personal treasures gathered along the way.
Handcrafted in England, this made-to-order trunk is constructed from Globe-Trotter’s signature vulcanised fibreboard and finished with brown leather details and gold-tone hardware. The rich Marmalade exterior lends depth and warmth to living rooms, dressing spaces and studies, while the classic trunk silhouette introduces a quiet sense of travel history into contemporary interiors.
Designed as both storage and statement piece, the Steamer Home Trunk offers generous space for cashmere throws, fine linens, books, keepsakes and travel mementoes. Its reinforced lid has been carefully engineered for everyday use within the home, allowing the trunk to sit naturally as part of a considered interior scheme.
Inside, the trunk reveals a beautifully finished interior lined with a finely woven cotton fabric depicting an English countryside scene with a stag. A removable wooden tray, wrapped in the same high-quality woven lining used in Globe-Trotter suitcases, provides an elegant layer of organisation for smaller possessions while preserving the softness, structure and refinement of the interior.

Vulcanised Fibreboard
Each case is made from Globe-Trotter’s proprietary Vulcanised Fibreboard, composed of 14 layers of recycled paper, cotton, and wood pulp from sustainable forests. The layers are bonded with zinc and compressed using steam and pressure. This results in a material that is exceptionally lightweight and strong, offering durability for a lifetime of travel while remaining easy to carry. We use this material for its unique balance of strength and lightness, which is exclusive to Globe-Trotter.
Vegetable-Tanned Leather
All leather elements, including the hand-moulded corners, trims, handles and fastening details, are made from vegetable-tanned hide. This traditional tanning method uses only natural plant extracts to create leather of exceptional strength and character. Over time, it develops a rich patina, ensuring that every case becomes ever more individual with each journey.
Ethical Sourcing
All leathers are ethically sourced. We partner only with suppliers who uphold high standards of animal welfare and environmental responsibility. This ensures full traceability and a commitment to sustainable production.
Internal Tray and Compartments
The interior features a removable wooden tray, complete with a structured handle and reinforced supports, combining practical organisation with refined craftsmanship.
Handles
Handles are constructed from a blend of bonded leather and reinforcement materials, pressed for 48 hours before hand assembly. This method provides both comfort in the hand and long-term durability, making every journey effortless.
Lining
The interior is lined with a finely woven cotton or cotton-blend fabric, selected for its soft touch, strength, and complementary aesthetic.
Locks and Hardware
Locks and hardware are precision-engineered from carbon steel or solid brass, then finished in gold, chrome, or signature tones. Each piece is chosen for its security, durability, and ease of use.
